Hi! My name is Richard. And yes, this is me… promoting myself.
The question always is ‘How does a guy talk himself up without sounding like a pretentious ass or breaking his arm patting himself on the back too long?’ The answer? You really can’t. So I apologize in advance for making you listen to me drone on about my laurels in the third person.
Richard J. Lee is an award-winning director and producer. Born and raised in Los Angeles, he was bitten by the entertainment bug at a very young age, much to the dismay of his parents. (Come on now, I am Asian—but they approve now, I promise). Graduating from Cal State Long Beach with a B.A. in Filmmaking with an emphasis on Screenwriting, Richard went on to direct national and online cross-branded commercial campaigns for national and international clients such as Honda Powersports, Ford, Kings Hawaiian Bakery, Nestle, and Inuit. From there, Richard was able to connect with and work for network and cable stations FuseTV, SyFy, USA, and AMC.
Currently, Richard serves as Executive Producer for the Disney Television Discovers Talent Showcase. He has completed his debut independent feature film, “The Death That Awaits,” and is currently prepping his sophomore feature.
During the short breaks between jobs, Richard keeps creatively active by working on his photography. He also takes longs walks on the beach, drinks copious amounts of coffee, and can prepare a 12-hour bolognese sauce that could start wars and yet comfort the soul.
Richard is Los Angeles-based, but is passport ready and has previously worked on both national and international projects.
